What kind of piano or keyboard do I need?

Pianos are large and expensive--I know! If you're just getting started, a cheaper upright or digital keyboard is absolutely fine. If you are looking at digital options, try to find an option that has 88 keys and weighted keys. I have many recommendations for all price points and would be happy to answer any questions and give my two cents.

Where can I get a cello?

For cello lessons, you will need to have access to your own instrument. I recommend renting an instrument, as opposed to buying in most cases. Locally, we have both Shar’s Music and Psariano’s Violins in Ann Arbor which have a range of rentals, purchases, and rent-to-buy options available. If you are ready to buy a new instrument or bow, I would be happy to accompany you and help with the selection process as well.

What do I need for virtual lessons?

For virtual lessons, you will simply need a device compatible with Zoom, Skype, or Google Hangouts. Laptops or tablets are recommended because of their larger screens. Your device will need to be positioned to show your side profile, keyboard, and hands.

Do you accept online payment?

Yes! I accept online payments via Paypal <paypal.me/jasonlgong> and Venmo @Jason-Gong. For in person lessons I also accept cash and check.
